Congrats on your wedding! As you are getting ready embark on the whirlwind of wedding, planning one of the relationships you'll develop is with your wedding DJ. They're not just there to spin tunes; they're your collaborator in curating the soundtrack for one of the days in your life. Effective communication with your wedding DJ ensures that your vision comes alive and keeps the dance floor bustling all night.
Here's how to ensure you're, in sync:
1. Get a Head Start - AKA BOOK EARLY! (12 to 18 months out!)
Avoid procrastinating on booking your wedding DJ in Houston, Texas.
Once you've locked in a date and venue start researching and contacting DJs away. In demand DJs often get booked months or years ahead. Securing your date early is crucial. At Enloe Entertainment LLC, our normal booking range is 12 to 18 months away from the wedding date! Six to twelve months from the wedding date, is gambling on the date of our availability. If you are booking any vendors, less than six months... GOOD LUCK!
2. Share Your Dream
Your big day should mirror your personalities and unique love story. Take some time to sit down with your DJ and convey your vision for the day. Are you envisioning a high energy dance fest? Do you have songs that hold value for both of you as a couple? The more your DJ understands your music preferences the better they can customize the music to match your style. We always are up for brainstorming with each other to see what the best fit is for the wedding day!
3. Provide Your "Must Play" and "Do Not Play" Lists
Put together a list of songs you definitely want to hear on your day and any songs you prefer NOT to have played. Include moments, like your dance parent dances and other special highlights. Clearly state any genres or specific tracks you wish to avoid to ensure the music reflects your taste. We actually ask couples to focus on the DO NOT PLAY section first because we can easily mix in stuff that you want on the wedding day versus mixing out of stuff you don't like. But also, you do NOT have to provide each and every song either!
4. Plan the Evenings Flow
Your DJ does more than play music; they also help organize how the evening unfolds. Discuss with them the schedule of events, such as entrances, speeches, cake cutting and bouquet toss. A skilled DJ will seamlessly blend these moments with the music. Maintain an atmosphere throughout the celebration. We also have to focus on the upcoming events as well. This way, we can cater the music to the upcoming events.
5. Consider Recommendations
While its important to communicate your preferences be open to trusting in your DJ's expertise. Experienced wedding DJs possess insights, into what gets people dancing and how to keep guests engaged. Be receptive, to their ideas. Give them some room for creativity to assess the audience and adjust the music selection as necessary. You hired us for a reason! :)
6. Keep Communication Open
Stay in touch with your DJ throughout the planning process. If there are any changes to your schedule or song choices make sure to inform them. Working together ensures that everyone is on the page and helps prevent any surprises on the big day. Again, the more advanced notice you can give us, the better!
7. Have Faith in Your DJ! (You hired us for a reason LOL!)
On your wedding day trust in your DJ's abilities. They are professionals who know how to handle any circumstances. Relax, savor the moment and let your DJ do their magic to create a soundtrack for your day.
Establishing communication with your wedding DJ is vital for making sure that your wedding day exceeds all expectations. By sharing your vision being open to input and maintaining lines of communication you can collaborate with your DJ to curate a playlist that sets the ambiance, for celebrating love.
